how do i write a thesis statement for a compare and contrast essay?

    Oh, dear.  I'm distressed to learn that you are writing a compare and contrast essay in the first place, and that you have to write a thesis statement for it. I hope this is an ESL class. It's still a mistake.  OK- whatever you do, DON'T write "there are many differences and similarities between X and Y." That is the world's most horrible thesis statement. Try to make a point- that is, something that is not immediately obvious. For example, "Despite the many similarities between the Honda Pilot and the Buick Escalade, the Pilot has been the better selling car because of it's quality, safety features, and record of reliability."
