when someone is found guilty by a Military Court Marshall these days do they still have a sword placed  facing them?

I just found out it was a military tradition of only UK and British empire countries.

Apparently a ruling was made a couple of decades back to stop using the sword pointing in the UK, but it's still used by Australian and Indian forces courts marshall.

The word you want to use is "martial" meaning "military".  Court martial.
