Why did the English sailors colonise the world so fast? Did they hate staying at home with their wives so much? ?

    The world?

    Hardly.

And don't forget that the French, the Spanish, the Dutch and the Portuguese were all busy exploring too ...With the development of bigger, better and safer ships, horizons grew wider and longer trips could be undertaken. No adventurous person was going to sit at home with his wife when he could be sailing the oceans, discovering new worlds and bringing home gold.

They didn't do it so fast.  It was very slow.  It took centuries.

They wanted to escape the rainy grey English weather.
