What's your problem with signing a contract and handing over the money?

See: United Rentals or Home Depot (I know UR has them, I expect HD has them too).
You'll need a credit card
an established business account with the retailer.

Im guessing if you have to ask, you can't. Just like you probably cant rent a car.

Just call up someone who rents out genertors. Just google it, though Home Depot is one place that rents these out. I don't think Lowes does, at lesat not the lowes near me.

First, figure out what you're going to be running with that generator and how much power you will need for whatever you're going to do.
Next, look up equipment rental companies in your area. They can answer the rest of your questions for you.

call around to tool rental companies, contractors rent them all the time for remote job sites
