If... only if, the Taliban ever returns to power in Afghanistan, was the U.S. mission in vain?

I just read on Reuters that the "Loya Jirga" (like a large assembly of old people) decided that the most dangerous Taliban prisoners be released to start peace talks with the local govt. I find that stupid.

Tribes in the middle east as a whole have been at it for some 5000 Years,

For the USA to assume itself the "world's police" is trouble making.

The USA has a tendency to NOT leave when uninvited, or asked to get out.

Leave the countries to settle their own problems.

You do know the Taliban is in control of some of the country, that they are at the negotiating table and such. That as troops withdrew from areas the Taliban moved right on back in and took control. There is no if they return to or have power. They do.

Biden released enemy terrorists back to the enemy.

These Taliban prisoners should have been shot by now.

  • The US invaded Afghanistan because the Taliban were sheltering Bin Laden who they regarded as the architect of 9/11 where just under 3,000 people died.  Thanks to Trump, 160,000 Americans have died of Covid-19.  You know where to aim your guns next.

If, only if, the Saudi government could take care of the problems in their own back yard instead of complaining about how others do it, we wouldn't need to still be in Afghanistan.
