Which word is correct?

An (outraged / enraged) voice was coming from the upstairs.

    it depends on if the person was enraged or outraged, I would think.  They mean different things.  Either can be true.

    Two different words with different meanings. Use the one that best describes what you're trying to say.

    Enraged. Outraged would imply that there might be a reason for it. Also remove 'the' as it is unnecessary unless you were to say something like "the upstairs apartment".
