Why do universities give out scholarships to people of a certain origin as if they're any more deserving than everyone else?

It has nothing to do with being deserving. There is an advantage to all students to having diversity in the classroom- it prepares them for the workplace. And then those people go on to be successful, raise educated children, contribute to their communities, and decrease the inequalities in our society.

Universities and programs give out scholarships to minorities to promote diversity whether it is gender or race based. Females and Hispanic/Blacks are often given STEM scholarships to promote and encourage others to join the stem field in means of diversifying the industry. These scholarships recipients in no way inferior to other people who are not a minority. They meet the same rigorous requirements. They are also not more deserving. It's just a way to promote diversity, if you still haven't gotten the idea.

If you have to ask there’s no need wondering why you’re not getting any for any reason.
