Can a used car dealership sell a total loss/salvage vehicle without police inspection? ?

    Yes, but not without a salvage title obtained by providing the DMV with proper documentation about the rebuild. Beware that a car with a salvage title may not be eligible for registration in any other states than where the salvage title was obtained.

    Of course, that is what salvage yards are for.

    Most of the time the insurance company that insured the car sells them at auction. Depending on the local laws such cars can be returned to the road. Some times such actions are illegal. But they can still be sold for other purposes such as to some one who is going to build a car that will not be driven on the road or for the salvageable parts to be used on  a kit car.

    Local laws prevail and what may be legal where I live might not be legal where you live.
