Probability question on TABE practice test. ?

So I think the probability of a female president is 4/7 and the probability of a male Vice President is 3/7. So I’m guessing you multiply across to get right answer, if so why and why not add across. That was what I first thought to do.

    Your answer is C

    Female = 4

    Total =7

    P(F and M)= 4/7 x 3/6 = 12/42= 2*6/7*6= 2/7
