Do you know why a company would hire someone and not really give them much work today?
I've been working at a company for over a year now. There's a queue with assignments in it for our team. The director basically told me to not do half of the assignments. Also, probably 100 times I've asked the manager a question about an assignment. Then he ignores my message and does it himself. Why do they have me there then? Is there maybe some reason that I don't know about?
Much work to do*

Hours are very limited in a lot of places.
If, at least, they've kept you around that is a good thing.
Sometimes weird stuff happens.
The drug store I worked at actually put up with a guy that didn't show up for an entire week.
They really took their time firing him.
The world out there is so fast-paced that it doesn't always make sense.

I had a boss like that once. I would do things so fast he didn't know what to get me to do next.
