    Step 1

    Find slope (m) of the line = (y2-y1)/x2-x1) = [ 9 - (-1) ]/ (4-2) = 5

    Step (2)

    Use formula :  y  =  m x + b

    => y = 5 x + b  ........................ (1)

    This line contains Point ( 2, -1 ). Hence ( 2, -1 ) must satisfy eqn (1)

    => ( - 1 ) = 5 (2) + b

    => - 1  =   10 + b

    =>  b  =  - 11

    Plug this value in (1). You get the answer --

    y  =  5 x - 11  ....................... Answer
