Is using sqlsrv_free_stmt necessary, in a short and frequently called PHP script?

I have a ~800 line PHP script, that calls about 3 Microsoft SQL server queries in every execution.

Would the resources used on the sqlsrv queries be automatically freed when the PHP script end? Or is sqlsrv_free_stmt necessary for freeing up the resources?I searched on google, but still isn't completely sure about how resources are freed in SQL.
