It seems like my mother wants me to be forever disabled. Why is this?
She applied for me to get a disability payment from government years ago, even though a lot of people think I can work perfectly fine and that my mom is just using me because she's very unwell. I was diagnosed autistic before I turned 5 but I've come such a long way (I'm 25 now) and study full time.
Whenever I have doctor appointments she emphasises and exaggerates my weak points and areas I struggle with.
Why is this, and has anyone else experienced similar?

Several possibilities:
1. She is in it for the money
2. She Munchausen by Proxy
3. She thinks the stigma of disability overrides common sense
4. She gets some satisfaction out of being a devoted mother to a disabled child
5. She is out of touch with expected norms.
She can't "keep you disabled" forever. At 18, you can demand your independence and forge out on your own.
