Would it be okay to just not show up to my job ever again and cut off all contact with that place without actually quitting?

Depends on what "okay" means to you.  You can abandon your job and there are no legal repercussions (assuming no employment contract), assuming  you have no property that belongs to your employer.  You are "burning a bridge behind you".  If that means nothing to you, then it is okay.

    It is not illegal.............

Is it okay? No. Why? Because it is immature and shows LA k of character and above all  it is COWARDLY to just walk off the job.

Of course.  People do it.  It would be courteous to at least call but, you do what you feel you need to do.

First of all that's quitting. A lot of places have a policy that if you don't show up for x amount of days without calling in and saying why you're not going to show up then it's considered voluntary separation and they will process you as such. Some will just consider it job abandonment. Secondly, you can do it but why do it? If you don't want to work there anymore then grow a backbone and tell the boss to his/her face, A-M-F. If you do what you want to do, and if you have any unused paid time off that you would normally get to get paid for if you gave proper notice, then a lot of places won't pay you for it. You should read your employee handbook before doing anything.

Okay? Sure, it’s called quitting. When you don’t show up and don’t call, you’ve quit. That’s how it works in the real world. Try it! Don’t show up and don’t call and then go into work the next day and see if you still have your job.
