Religion is, and always has been a man made construct.  Early primitive man invented religion as a way to try and explain things they were ignorant of.  It was also a way to try and explain the world around them.  It's not surprising that they appealed to magic, the supernatural and various deities as a way to explain things.  Fortunately, most of us have learned about reality and accept it as part of the natural world around us because we directly experience it on a daily basis.  But there are vast populations of people that still cling to ancient, outdated superstitious beliefs out of fear alone.  Sad.

It most likely has its roots there, but over time, it has changed and developed. It is quite a step to see an animating force which causes life in the universe as something akin to First Cause, than to believe in the tree god or the thunder god. Religion is the impulse to understand the "why" of existence.

Religion is most relevant during these unsettling times. If we read the Bible and obey God, our problems would seem small.

Islam is the religion approved by God, here below and in the hereafter.

I agree it's always been with us and always will be, so yes, it's prehistoric.

  • "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and for ever" (Hebrews 13:8).

BELIEVE OTHERWISE AND "GOD HATES YOU" (PROVERBS 6:16-19)!

It would seem so. Here is an article showing ritualistic burial habits from 30,000 years ago.

Evidence of religion has been found as far back as the paleolithic stone age.

Some of them were. The logical need for God is so obvious that even the most primitive human beings recognized it.

Can't tell as there is no historical evidence of that.  That's what it means to be pre-historic.
