Even Civil War didn't curtail use of mail in ballot but Repubs now want to curtail mail in ballot for 2020 election. Why?
@Daisy - wrong, there was. How did you think all those Union soldiers voted?

it was 150,000 votes. and guess who did not like it.
It was the 1860s, the Civil War was raging and Republicans, led by President Abraham Lincoln, wanted to let Union soldiers vote from the battlefield. The opposition Democrats balked. They warned of rampant fraud and ‘a scheme’ by Republicans ‘to gain some great advantage to their party,’ as one Wisconsin state senator put it before the legislature voted on party lines to become the first state to legalize absentee voting.” “About 150,000 of the 1 million Union soldiers were able to vote absentee in the 1864 presidential election in what became the first widespread use of non-in person voting in American history.”

You are SUCH fools. You've been told that Democrats are "traitors" and are committing treason and you have been told that African Americans are "a criminal class" and you are actually naive enough to think that the government doesn't have a record of whether you are Democrat or African Americans. You really actually are stupid enough to think that computers cannot be coordinated to prevent a vote by a traitor from registering in the election. In fact, you should expect prosecution down the road for attempting treason.

no way to confirm who is voting. recall the number of dead people that voted for kennedy in the land of corruption, IL. i would imagine that CA signed up millions of illegals when they got their drivers license.

Mail in voting is not the same as absentee voting. To vote absentee you must register with a valid I.D.
- How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

Can you say "vote harvesting"? I knew you could.

To which Civil War are you referring? If you are referring to the American Civil War, then, there was no mail ballot voting in 1860 or 1864. Voters showed up at the polls and voted. Trump and the Republicans want to curtail mail-in balloting because they fear they will loose and loose badly.

It's largely the result of certain states allowing ballot harvesting that flips elections at the last minute. That's how Orange County in California become blue and it's the tactic for one-party rule across the nation. Normally a ballot mailed to someone so aged, disabled or disinterested that they don't bother filling it out just goes uncast. Here someone goes to the home, fills the ballot out for the person then sits on it until the last moment to upset the process.
