What is the difference between a trumpet, flugelhorn and a cornet?

    I was curious myself. Conical VS cylindrical, for one. The taper.....

    Larger bore, therefore "folded" differently. Usually different mouthpiece dimensions. Trumpet is most brilliant in sound - cornet is less edgy, flugelhorn is most mellow. Chuck Mangione was a family jazz flugelhorn player.

    cornet is smaller than a trumpet, but not sure about the flugelhorn
