Isn't it a bad idea to remove religion from the world as it would make people immoral?

Outspoke atheist Richard Dawkins admits a world with no God would be immoral

Dawkins said he fears the removal of religion would be a bad idea for society because it would give people "license to do really bad things."

He likened the importance of a higher power informing our morality to the presence of surveillance cameras to prevent shoplifting, warning people would feel free to commit crimes if the need to obey the "divine spy camera in the sky, reading their every thought" was removed.

"People may feel free to do bad things because they feel God is no longer watching them," he said.

He said that a society that affirms God's existence can be effective in "keeping the crime rate down."

So Atheists dont you think it would really be bad for us to make people unfollow religion or God? Especially in a modern world people would do anything to fufill their greeds.

You just have an atheist illusion, nothing more?

No one can remove religions, whether there are wars or not!

Religions will last until the end of life and the human system on earth!

So, religions will not end, whatever, the most important thing is to be in true Christianity, that is, followers of Jesus Christ, the Lord!

IS ALL RELIGIN GOOD?  there are sincere people in all religions. It is good news that God sees those people and cares about them. But sadly, religion has been used for evil ends. ( 2 Corinthians 4:3,4; 11:13-15) According to news reports, some religions are even involved in terrorism, genocide, war, and child abuse. How this saddens sincere believers in God! Read Matthew 24:3-5, 11,12.  Whereas true religion glorifies God, false religion displeases him. It teaches ideas that are not in the Bible, including false teachings about God and the dead. But Jehovah  wants people to know the truth about him. Read Ezekiel 18:4; 1 Timothy 2:3-5. WHAT IS THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT RELIGION? Happily, God is not deceived by religions that claim to love him but are really in love with Satan's world. (James 4:4) God's Word refers to all false religion as " Babylon the Great". Babylon was the ancient city where false religion began after the flood of Noah's day. Soon, God will bring a sudden end to religion that deceives and oppresses mankind. Read Revelation 17:1,2,5,16,17; 18:8.  There is more good news. Jehovah has not forgotten the sincere people who are scattered among false religions worldwide. he is uniting such people by teaching them the truth. Read Micah 4:2,5. WHAT SHOULD SINCERE PEOPLE DO? Jehovah cares about people who love what is true and good. He urges them to leave false religion behind. People who love God are willing to make changes to please him. Read Revelation 18:4. In the first century, when sincere people heard the good news from the apostles, they responded with joy. They learned a new way of life from Jehovah, a happier way of life with a purpose  and hope. They are a good  example for us today because they responded to the good news by putting Jehovah first in their lives. Read 1 Thessalonians 1:8, 9, 2:13.  Jehovah welcomes into his family of worshippers those who turn away from false religion. If you accept Jehovah's warm invitation, you will receive his friendship, a new and loving family of fellow worshippers of Jehovah and everlasting life. Read Mark 10:29,30;  2 Corinthians 6:17,18. HOW WILL GOD BRING JOY TO EVERY LAND?  The coming judgment of false religion is good news. It will bring worldwide relief from oppression. Never again will false religion mislead and divide mankind. Everyone living will be united in the worship of the only true God Read Revelation 18:20, 21; 21:3,4.  For more information JW.ORG

If people need religion in order to not do really bad things, then they are pretty terrible people. We atheists do the right thing without having to be enticed or threatened.

Dawkins, like more atheists, knows that there are plenty of psychopaths being held in check only by their belief in hell.  He also knows that religion is not required to keep normal, moral people from doing bad things.

It would be a bad idea to remove religion from the world because to do so would be an impingement on peoples' freedom. I don't really see that belief in a god seems to have much effect on peoples' honesty or morality. Certainly I see plenty of preachers who are thoroughly dishonest or immoral.

Unfortunately, I can't find a site that quotes what Dawkins said in full (apart from the original Times article, which I would have to pay for). Most of the sites quoting it are Christian ones, which don't give the full context, and at least one of the quotes you cite is suspicious. Why is "keeping the crime rate down" the only part in quotes. I have my suspicion that, ironically, the sites quoting him have not been entirely honest.

The problem with your statement (it's not really a question) is that Richard Dawkins did NOT say those things, and you don't explain why you think the lack of religion would result in people being “immoral”.

To answer your initial “question”, no.

The majority of religions are based on the filth, greed,

incest, envy, poverty, deceit, and life of many centuries ago

when shiny rocks, ill-gotten goods, livestock, and a family’s virgin

    daughters were used as currency.

Your belief that something as weak and symbolic as 'religion'

will prevent venal & depraved behavior, is already a failure.

Morality has nothing to do with Religion.   Morality is knowing right from wrong.

Richard Dawkins does not speak for Atheists and his opinions are B.S.

It's a good thing people believe, or they'd live forever.

Morality does not require religion, but religion does seem to need morality to exist.  But it does not seem to be beneficial at times!
