How were pre-Castro and embargo Cuba like before 1959 in terms of living standards and other factors?

Also how was the government,healthcare,education was like?

    They had a thriving middle class.  The government was a dictatorship.  You wanted health care & education, you paid for it.  They still have a dictatorship.  Education does you little good, since there are no jobs.  Everyone is equally 'dirt poor'.

    Living standards were only good if you were a rich white American landowner. Everyone else was poor and repressed by a brutal military dictatorship. There was no free healthcare, most of the land was owned by tobacco corporations, and only the children of the wealthy could go to university.

    Mass starvation and poverty. Straight, cis, white, Christian men had all the rights.
