If you have sex and your period comes a week later as scheduled could pregnancy still take place?

If you began a menstrual period one week after you had sex, you did NOT get pregnant. Pregnant women NEVER have menstrual periods. You can't "still get pregnant" - at least not in this menstrual cycle.
You have to have sex again after your period, in order to get pregnant. You can't get pregnant until usually about 14 to 15 days after the first day of your last period, when you'll be ovulating. Whenever it occurs, ovulation is the ONLY time you're fertile and can become pregnant.

The egg was dead and pregnancy didn't begin or your period would NOT have happened.
The sperm will be dead before another egg arrives.
Sperm lives for about five days.
The egg lives for about 12 to 24 hours.
Ovulation happens ABOUT 14 days before a period begins. Ovulation CAN be EARLY OR LATE during any cycle - so estimating ovulation as a method of birth control is NOT a good idea.
But - in your situation - since the period arrived on time - ovulation probably happened about a week before you had sex and the egg was dead by the time you had sex.
