How to find a roommate who pays half the rent but doesnt really live there?

Like a truckdriver who just needs a mailing address and a couch to crash on every other weekend or something?

Update:

Actually living with someone means Id need to find a 4 bedroom apartment, and those are next to impossible to find

Update 2:

4 people because I have kids

Update 3:

Rent is divided by the number of ADULTS, not bedrooms.   So a roommate would pay HALF

Update 4:

Then people need to STOP telling me to get a roommate..  It obviously is NOT a viable option

Update 5:

To share rent with another family, it needs to be 4 bedroom...  Boys in a room, girls in a room and each adult gets a room.

Unless you are a couple, adults dont share a room

Per your previous question, you only need a three bedroom. You were going to sleep in the car, remember?

Anyone who'd pay that much rent to spend a few nights a month in an apartment with kids would likely be *very * interested in the kids.

I don't know what world you live in, but as a young adult with little money, adults sharing rooms was sometimes a financial necessity.

ETA: If you aren't willing to share a bedroom with a child or an adult, I guess the 'abusive' housing you mentioned in your last question isn't really bad at all. If you went to a shelter for abused women, you would all be sleeping in one room.

This is a tricky one, because you have three key issues here.

    1. Finding a roommate who works such a job

    2. Finding a roommate who wants to live with basically a family with kids.

    3. Being asked to pay HALF the rent on a 3/4 bed place when they only get to use one room. Rent needs to be divided between the number of bedrooms. So on a four bed place, they pay a quarter of the rent. And if they only occasionally crash on the couch, then they pay only for the nights they stay.

Going to be next to impossible... But my best guess would perhaps advertise the room in forums for night shift people, or restaurant etc staff, eg who work evenings.. ie. When you are home

Putting a tenant on the lease would be fraud unless the tenant actually lives in the property. You can possibly get a co-signer for your lease if your state permits it, or you can have someone just pay some of your rent. But you can't put their name on the lease as a tenant. That would make them responsible for any damages YOU cause, or any non-payment of rent that YOU incur. It's a foolish way to do things.

you need to find a safe home for your kids before you harm them with your idiocy...it  has been explained to you how you can work roommates (another single/parent with kids who would split rent 50%) or make it work in a 1 bedroom or studio..

AGAIN, find another single parent with 1 or 2 kids (if they have 1 kid, you can pay 60%, they pay 40% in a  bedroom with them getting the smaller room.....if you both have 2 kids--find a place with 2 similar size bedrooms and each pay 50%...

each family gets 1 bedroom (3 per bedroom) OR kids get bedrooms and moms sleep on couches.

each set of siblings can get a bedroom...or girls from both families in 1 room and boys from both families in the other)

ABSOLUTELY NOT..rent is NOT just divided by the number of adults....there are various formulas, but a tenant is not responsible to cover the costs of your kids bedrooms.  If your family is using 3 bedrooms and a roommate taxes 1, you pay 75%...  if 2 people use a bedroom, they pay slightly more (ie in a 2 bedroom, a couple may pay 30% each for a total of 60% to account for use of kitchen, living room, etc, while the single pays 40%)

you sound like the whiny princess who insists taxpayers need to pay for a 3 bedroom because you have a boy/girl and you would sleep in the car before sleeping on the couch....and so many other ridiculous rants

no one will pay half for that, maybe a quarter rent. 4 bedrooms for 2 people?

You are dilutional.  Nobody is going to pay 1/2  the rent to sleep on the couch.  They may pay something but not the same as someone renting a room would.
