Why is marriage no longer important like it was in the 1950s?

It IS just as important and the reason that there are so many social problems is because people don't understand that.  When 70+ of Black children are growing up without a father in the house it's not surprising that so many of them, especially the boys, end up with problems.  Growing up in a single parent home is the best predictor of a living in poverty and going to prison.

Because women can now have jobs, open bank accounts, and own property.  They don't require a man to bring home the money or co-sign for loans or properties.

Lack of leadership to exalt marriage. Also a culture that's degenerating.
