Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?

Are both these snetences correct: 

 

a) "At the doctor's office, while waiting for my turn to be attended, I read a magazine to distract myself." 

 

b) "At the doctor's office, while waiting for my turn to be attended, I read a magazine to get distracted."

    The first sentence (a) is the one you want to use. Sentence b is very awkward.

    They're both correct, but a) sounds more natural.
