What kind of Japanese Should a Starter Learn?

I'd like to learn Japanese but it seems there are different types depending where you are? Also different types of writing of Japanese using either kanji, katakana, etc. It would be amazing if someone could point me in the right direction to help me start. Thank you!

To write and read japanese you need to learn all the three types of writing, so hiragana, katakana and even kanji.

Nevertheless, as a beginner knowing all the hiragana and katakana and the easiest kanji is enaugh.

So you should start by learn and memorise all the hiragana alphabet and then the katakana. At this point I suggest that you start studying the grammar and the vocabulary.
