Because it's all right to protest and riot, but it's not "essential" for people to sing hymns.

It is in the whole of the U.K. too.    Because it spreads any virus more widely

Because the godless, anti-Christian government is dictating the rules. We don't see those leftwingers telling the protestors to walk silently and not shout.

Liberals want to ban God. They got Him removed from schools decades ago.

Supposedly to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.  But there are a myriad of things that put people more at risk than singing in churches, but they aren't banned.  Really some short-sighted thinking out there.

Because singing projects virus droplets fifteen feet.  You wouldn't voluntarily sit next to someone sneezing and coughing, would you?  And that's only a cold.  In case you haven't heard, covid-19 is a matter of life and death, with some survivors having long-lasting negative effects.

Singing spreads the virus more readily than simply breathing.  It's a public health measure.  However, I'm sure some churches are getting their persecution panties in a bunch over it.  Reasonable churches agree with the guidelines because they're not trying to kill their parishioners.

Why anybody would go along with this "banning", is beyond me.  If the preacher doesn't have the nads to stand up and say NO to these "rules", then it might be time to find a new preacher.  If the preacher let the place close, if the preacher is agreeing to have no Lord's table, if the preacher makes people wear masks, if the preacher won't have singing, then maybe it's time to consider finding a new preacher.  The state doesn't have the right to overrule what God says to do.

The California ban was one of a number of restrictions on indoor businesses and gatherings put in place last week by Gov. Gavin Newsom amid fast-rising virus cases and hospitalizations. It's unclear if any similar prohibition on singing exists in the United States, though there is one in England.
