There are many sub disciplines in engineering, such as electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.  What you will learn and  your job prospects depend on your specific discipline.

You learn how to be an engineer.  There are different types of engineering and you major in a specific one - mechanical, civil, chemical, biomedical, etc.  Job prospects are good if you do well in school.

Well which engineering u talking about? software, electrical, chemical, mechanical, etc? Whichever one u choose , dont bother going if u weren't a A student in high school.Hardest one is electrical engineering. You learn some really hard and boring courses. 70 percent of the courses are just math in electrical engineering, software is more interesting and not as hard if u know programming,  but i don't why they get paid higher than electrical engineers.
