Why are women’s lives more valued than men’s lives?

The first to be saved are always women and children. Why? Is it culturally or biological? Why must men do the saving? Is it romanticized?

Naturally, meaning in nature, men are stronger and hardier than women, usually, and certainly more so than children.  So, in adversity, it makes sense to try and protect our most vulnerable members first.
