Gain Staging My Mix for Vocals?
So I am a producer and I`m having a difficult time managing volumes of my audio tracks. For instance, I will have my kick sitting at -12 dB, and have a snare hitting at -6 dB (after EQ.) If I lower the volume of the snare it won`t be loud enough, and anything higher will limit the amount of headroom I have for the vocal mixing process? Same issue applies to other audio tracks. I know to have at least 6 dB of headroom for the vocal mix, but am I overthinking? Thanks!
