Should everyone start learning mandarin?

    why? actually in China there are at least 2 languages, so if you're worried about invasion then it's only a 50/50 chance the attacking troops would understand you

    but not everyone need to study it.

    No, of course not.  Everybody should learn Esperanto (one schoolyear would do), and then some other language, seriously. see wikipedia Propaedeutic_value_of_esperanto

    Mandarin is just one of the " critical languages" [google that]. If everybody were to focus on Mandarin, there would still be a shortage of people speaking Swahili, Arabic, Indonesian, Russian, etc

    If it's going to be relevant to your life, I suppose you should.

    But if it's a language you'll never really need or use, then there's not much point (unless learning languages is a hobby for you).
