Can I name a character after Nick Cordero his really spoke to me A man who fought hard  to Beat corona, but lost it I don’t want to get sued?

This is a spy story about three guys going on to rescue Anastasia it’s sort of the guns of Navarone meet titanic

    Sure you can. Just change the spelling a bit.

    If he was a real person, you would be safer not to use his real name nor anything that points to him.  His grieving family might not know you had written about him, but they might take offense that you put him in a novel.

    Change his last name   Put him in Berlin instead of wherever he died  If you are writing a historical thriller set in the 1910s; don't give him COVID-19.

    Ask their permission if you do use him
