what are samples of intrinsic value?

intrinsic means of itself, unrelated to how we value them based on something esthetic (beauty or coloration or whatever, things that come from the viewer's opinion are extrinsic).  So, intrinsic value means that the value lies in the very nature of the sample rather than how we see it as being valuable.  It is useful as it is.

gold has high intrinsic value as it is scarce and valuable in electronics. Although the value in ornamentation tends to inflate the value.

Ditto with many of the rare earth elements.

Low intrinsic value would be diamonds. They can now be made industrially cheaply but the value is artificially held high.
