My genie garage door touch pad takes several times pushing on it to work are there contacts in it that have gone bad?

  • did  you  read  the  trouble-shooting  section  in  the  manual?  did  you  ask  genie?  did  you  place  the  remote  in  different  location  for  better  reception?

    that's one possible, yes.  so is a partial disconnect at the mechanism overhead.

    Have you tried changing the batteries?   If changing the batteries does not work, you will have to replace the unit.    The contacts could be dirty, but I don't think you want to try to open it up and fix it.
