Living out of my home state, can i purchase a vehicle?

Update:

Currently my job has me in Florida, but my home state is Rhode Island. I was trying to purchase a second hand motorcycle from a private seller down here. My question is, I will not be home for a while longer (Months), and I will not be able to register the bike in person. Will that be a problem, or are there ways around that?

Generally speaking, you register the vehicle in Florida, and re-register it when you move back to RI (to cover taxes, fees, etc).

Unless Florida will issue you a temp tag, I don't think you will be able to.
