Did movie companies create a knock-off version of Bruce Lee called Bruce Li, or was Bruce Li already a popular kung fu artist?

Update:

Edit: @Entropy, im talking about a guy called  Ho Chung-tao

Update 2:

Thanks bon, by the way are you a fan of the "knock off bruce lee Ho Chung-tao"? I saw a clip of him on youtube impersonating bruce lee in a movie, and he seemed like he was doing a pretty good job.

Yes, it was Run Run Shaw's cheap and crass attempt at cashing in on Bruce Lee's name after he had died. The guy cast as Bruce Li was not even his real name.

Li and Lee are both valid transliterations of the Chinese last name.  Realize that their writing doesn't use the Latin alphabet.  So any spelling of their words or names is just hearing the sounds and picking a latin spelling that is 'close'.
