King David wrote, "Thou tellest my wanderings; put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?" This was when David had been taken by the Philistines to Gath. He continued, "In God have I put my trust; I will not be afraid what man can do unto me." The poetic language uses illustrations to show how God values the faithful suffering of His people. The illustration of his tears being put by God into a bottle is used prior to the similar illustration of a record of his tears being in God's 'book'.

This is poetic language, and context does not call for a literal fulfillment.
