Is there an app to transfer photos from iphone to PC that is actually free?

I have a lot of photos on my iphone that I need to transfer. Every time I try to use the photos app on my PC, it crashes. Every app I have found that claims to be free only lets you transfer around 50 to 70 unless you pay for a license. I have around 4,000, so that's no good to me. Is there one that's actually free that can handle as many photos as I have?

    Why not just follow the instructions given for Windows 10 in the link. It explains what is involved  and what to do quite nicely;

    You do _not_ need an app, or any special software.

    Just connect the phone to the PC using the charging cable.

    Unlock the phone.

    And, allow access from the PC on the phone, if you are prompted with the "Trust this PC" type message (and disconnect / reconnect the phone afterwards, in that case).

    Go to Computer or Windows explorer, so you can see the computer drives and expand "This PC" (or "Computer", depending on the windows version) on the left.

    After a few seconds to a minute or two, the phone should appear in the list just like a USB memory stick would.

    [If itunes starts, close that again].

    Click the phone in the list and expand it; go in to the directory/folders if contains and you will see a "DCIM" folder - that's got the camera photos in it, in subfolders.

    Again, as you go in to that, it may take a while for everything to appear.

    You can go in to see / copy individual photos or copy the entire folders and paste them somewhere on the computer, just like copying from any other drive or USB memory etc.

    I regularly back up all the photos from my iphone using this method.

    More info and illustrations for Win 10 here; I'm using Win 7 but the differences are trivial:

    You could simply go to and download them from the website. Alternatively you could just simply plug the phone into the computer and look for it in the C drive; there is a folder called DCIM that shows all the photos. And you can just literally simply highlight them and copy them over wherever you want.
