Do Conservatives go into Government Jobs so that they can keep the Government small ?

    While small government is a common conservative goal, the main reason for seeking government jobs is to effect a full ideology of policies, such as encouraging patriotism, protecting small businesses, reducing taxation, protecting the constitution and promoting family values. Of course, since government jobs are stable, benefit-rich and empowering, people from all walks of life pursue them.

    They pursue those positions for personal gain. Republicans are by nature not interested in civilian public service, but they covet the perceived power and importance that comes with the job.

    No. Their whole "smaller gov't" claim is all BS. They go into Gov't so they can steal. White-collar crime.
