Can you still catch the covd 19 virus if you are wearing a mask around someone who has covd 19?

Yes, you can. The cloth or paper masks that people are wearing in public won't filter out a contagious illness.

Unless it is a medical mask like a doctor would wear then yes you can get it because wearing a mask doesn't protect you but protects you from spreading anything to anyone else.

    Depends on the mask.

Sure. Being in close contact with an infected person for prolonged periods will make it much easier to come in contact with fluids where the virus is viable and then to transmit the virus to themselves.  IF the infected person is also wearing a mask, that decreases the risk.

Casual interaction (like crossing paths in a grocery aisle) doesn't appear to be a major source of infection.  It is living with or working close to someone when they don't wear a mask, that seems to be problematic.

Of course, there are thousands of people who cared for sick family members and didn't get sick themselves too.

If they aren't wearing a mask then YES.

Masks protect other people from you !

It is possible. Even the best mask (n95) will not filter out all of the virus cells. That is one reason for the 6 foot distance is recommended. More than 6 feet is also a good idea because the virus cells can float in the air.

Masks don't protect the wearer, it just protects OTHERS when YOU sneeze.
