If you have missing teeth it makes it harder for you to chew and to swallow. But you still can.
If you were to eat something and only about half chew it and swallow it, would it make you sick? Not normally. It would be the same with someone who has missing teeth.
It take a little longer for your stomach to digest the food because it is not already broken down by the chewing. But your stomach can still do it.
How many teeth you have missing is also part of the answer. If you have at least spot where you can chew your food, then having missing teeth does not affect your chewing. It just might take a little longer because you are limited where and how much you can chew at a time.
But you do not get sick because you are missing teeth.
