Brazil has two Ronaldos, you didn't make clear which one you're talking about but I would guess R10. Well, I don't know who was better between these two, they were/are true magicians, hehe.

Ronaldo certainly plays well. But, Messi is Messi. Messi is not compared to anyone.

Of course Messi. Messi is a magician, and he is more complete. Ronaldo was great, but he only lasted for few years. Let alone with Messi, I, as a Messi fan, I would say CR7 is better than De Lima, but that's just me. 

The only reason why people see Ronaldo as greater than he actually was, it's because he was something of the past. People usually see the past as better than present. Maybe 10-20 years from now, people will then recognize Messi as the greatest of all time.

Ronaldo was insane and could've shown even more if not for injuries, but Messi was simply out of this world. In his prime he literally scored 133 goals in 2 seasons (excluding national team goals), along with being a brilliant team player and breathtaking to watch. Messi in his prime is the greatest player to ever play the sport.
