What generates jobs? Consumers or companies?

    Consumers generate about 2/3, directly or indirectly.  The government generates about 1/3, directly or indirectly.  All the jobs that appear to be generated by companies are really indirectly generated by their customers, and if those customers are businesses, then by their customers, etc., so if you trace it far enough, then all jobs are ultimately generated by consumers or the government.

    They go hand-in-hand. Without consumers there is no company.

    Consumers....largely the lower and middle classes.

    Their purchasing creates the demand for employers to hire more people.
