What do the numbers at the end of chords mean?

For guitar, I hear people saying they’re playing a G flat 5th, or G flat 9th, or 7th, etc. What do the numbers mean? Also, what Does diminished mean?

They are for the guitar. The sensible is indicated as a 7.

In a musical scale each note has a scale degree, 1st (do) 2nd (re) 3rd (mi) 4th (fa) 5th (so) 6th (la) 7th (ti*)

When constructing a chord, it is typically made of the 1st 3rd and 5th. When it is not made of those three, you have describe how you made it instead. Like G7 is made of G (1st) B (3rd) D (5th) F (7th)

*yeah, I know, but lets keep it simple anyway.

You won't understand all of it by any means. What you DO get will answer your question so that you can truly understand it:
