What do I do and what will likely happen? Read description?

I just began a job, and I need five weeks off in July for my cousin's wedding. Do you think this will be okay, and what do I do if they decide not to approve it?

Update:

I work in retail.

Update 2:

What can I do to convince them to approve it?

Update 3:

Okay. It goes a little outside of July, but that is beside the point.

Why do you need five weeks for a wedding?  If they don't approve that, then you ask for a smaller amount of time -- perhaps three days, just enough to fly to wherever the wedding is, attend the wedding, and fly back.

Five weeks off is absolutely unheard of for someone that just started a job.

Even the most senior managers that I use to work for never got that much time off. The most time off they got was two weeks.

I need to know why you need five weeks off?

Do you plan on going on their honeymoon with them?

    I don't think it'll be ok.

You'd better make up a better excuse, like the pandemic.

I don't think they would approve of that in short notice. if you told them earlier they could of gave you those days off but I don't think they are going to give you 5 weeks off.

No employer on the planet is going to give you FIVE weeks off for a cousin's wedding. They will let you go. You can't do a doggone thing to convince them this would be okay. Besides, there aren't five weeks in July. Try thinking next time before you post such ridiculous questions.

Are you sure you don't mean you need some time off in five weeks?  They don't have five week weddings.

They don't have five week Julys either, then most people's cousins don't get married.
