Your wife's father-in-law is your father.

Living in the US is not a qualification to sponsor someone. If your father is a US citizen, he can sponsor his married son, and the married son's spouse can get a derivative visa.

If it's your wife's father-in-law, then he must be married to your wife's mother? Your wife's mother, IF she is a US citizen residing in US, and earning enough to support self + spouse + all dependents + you & your wife could, if willing, file a petition to sponsor your wife's immigration & include you in that petition. Waiting times for married adult children are very long. So even if your wife's mother qualifies & is willing to sponsor the two of you, it currently takes 13-24 years for Priority Dates to become current so that you & your wife would get a visa interview. You must remain in your country of citizenship while the petition is pending.

    • That would be her step-father.  Why do you thumbs up your own answers, weird.

If your wife's father-in-law is your father (which I assume must be the case as otherwise how can he be her father-in-law) then yes, he can sponsor your immigration if he is a US citizen and can demonstrate he has sufficient income to sign your affidavit of support.  However, this is not going to be fast.  If your father is a US citizen you should first check to see if you have inherited his citizenship.

Your wife's father-in-law would be your father and if he's a US citizen he could certainly sponsor you, your wife would be included as your dependent.
