What happens to a car that is impounded and no one comes to get it?

Will they sell it or what will happen?

The car rental company will go and get it.   You just need to call the car rental company and let them know where the car is at.

I read your other question.  Yes, if the fees are not paid it can and will be sold.

Again, not terribly smart to jointly own a vehicle with an "ex."

If it is sold for less than you owe, you can and will be sued for the difference.

Yeah that happens all the time car gets impounded and then they sell it to the highest bidder with a court-ordered title

It becomes the property of the tow lot usually. They have auctions regularly.  There is not a lot of demand for cars without keys that nobody knows if they run or not so they are usually bought by salvage yards for the value of the parts.

Sooner or later it will go to auction yes. It can be retitled if the police choose to.
