Physics Question!!!?

A plumber uses a torque wrench to loosen a corroded nut.

a. If he exerts a force of 400 N perpendicular to the wrench handle and the wrench is 15 cm long, then how much torque does the wrench experience?b. If he exerts a force of 400N at an angle of 40° from the perpendicular on the same wrench ,then how much torque does the wrench experience?c. What might a plumber have available to help generate more torque easily?

    torque τ = F*r*cosΘ

    where Θ is measured from perpendicular.

    a) τ = 700N * 0.15m * cos0º = 105 N·m

    b) τ = 105N·m * cos40º = 80 N·m

    c) a longer wrench!

    One does not use a torque wrench to loosen a fitting.
