Is an increase of 25% of a number followed by a decrease of 20% equal to the original number? Explain and give an example. ?

Let n be the number.
If it increases by 25%, the number becomes 1.25 n.
Then, if it decreases by 20%, it becomes 80% of the prior number, or 0.8 X 1.25 n = n. Therefore, it equals the original number.
