How to say this in English (family life inquiry)?

So, my friends dont want to be married. They dont want a child cuz it will ruin their future dream to go to graduate school and become a doctor or lawyer.

I tell my friend in English that marriage does bring challenges in taking care of a child and the constant fighting and reconciling with your wife.

BUT marriage makes your life feel ''settled." Is this how you say it in English?

You get to have your own car, you dont have a personal future but it feels like you now possess your own child, your own home. You dont feel you need to take tests and try to move around finding a new girl or guy since ur married. Things just feel ''settled.''

Whats the right English term? How do you explain this in English?
