Do riding school horses remember you?

So before lockdown started I used to ride riding school horses once a week, I think they've remembered me before as they've come up to the fence in their field to greet me once but that was a long time ago and I was only away for about a week, do you think they'll still remember me when I eventually go back?

Or is it only horses with owners that do this? (I don't have my own horse).

Probably some of them do. My wife has several stories of horses that remembered her over the years. Apparently they recognize good riding and also exceptionally poor riding. "Oh drat! HIM again. I thought we were rid of him. He'll haul on the reins, I'll refuse the jump and he'll go over my ears."
