which are independent and dependent variables here?

It is June and you have just completed your final Psychology test. You think to yourself: "Finally! I am done with this stuff forever." Unfortunately, you are unaware that your professor has a devious, somber plan in store for you. Ten years later, he contacts you up and explains that he wants to extend Bahrick's (1984) research on very long-term memory. Thus, he asks if you would be willing to take the final test for your research methods class again! After hearing his generous compensation offer, you decide to accept as do 14 other students in the class.

sorry if this is dumb but I'm confused as to what the independent and dependent variables are here? it doesn't seem clear to me.

Update:

im given a table with test scores from the two different years. but i'm not sure what is being tested
